Do you take insurance?

Yes, we take a variety of insurances. Please call our office to see if we participate with your plan.

Should I have my child evaluated?

Yes, you should have your child evaluated if any of the following apply:

  • Your child is not producing speech sounds that he/she should be able to produce at his/her age.

  • Your child’s pediatrician, teacher, babysitter, or another less-familiar person has expressed that he/she is having difficulty understanding your child’s speech.

  • You, another family member, or another more-familiar person has expressed that he/she is having difficulty understanding your child’s speech.

  • You can understand what your child says, but others cannot.

Who should receive swallowing therapy?

Patients with a history of the following may demonstrate difficulty eating (dysphagia):

  • Stroke

  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

  • Cancer of the throat, mouth, or esophagus

  • Neuromuscular speech disorders resulting from Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) as well as other conditions

  • Difficulty chewing, pocketing of food, coughing and gagging during meals.

  • Geriatric-related conditions

What is a language disorder?

Receptive language disorder may include difficulty with :

  • Understanding what gestures mean

  • Following directions

  • Answering questions

  • Identifying objects and pictures

  • Taking turns when talking with others

Expressive Language Disorder may include difficulty with:

  • Asking questions

  • Naming objects

  • Using gestures

  • Putting words together into sentences

  • Learning songs and rhymes

  • Using correct pronouns, like "he" or "they"

  • Knowing how to start a conversation and keep it going

Pragmatic Language Disorder may include difficulty with:

  • Using language appropriately for a variety of communicative and social purposes.
